The newly developed optical engine features a new wire grid and a redesigned aperture that reduce excess light leakage to negligible levels, making possible a remarkable 100,000:1 native contrast ratio. High contrast and film-like quality offered by the original D-ILA devices also help to ensure smoother greyscale, truer black levels, and increased depth.

JVC-developed D-ILA panel module
Many years in development and supported by technical expertise, the D-ILA panel module is a JVC original LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon) reflective LCD panel module for projectors that guarantees precise video reproduction. The D-ILA device provides smoother and natural-looking pictures thanks to more closely spaced pixel elements, which help to minimise visual artefacts such as the “screen-door effect”. And, when this device is combined with the new optical engine, cinema-like quality picture is assured.

Clear Motion Drive technology successfully generates an accurate intermediate frame even for scenes with rapid movement by employing JVC’s original high-precision interpolation algorithm that strengthens the precision of picture-character detection. When the video signal source is 50/60 fps broadcasting, viewers can enjoy smoother and clearer images with reduced motion blurring thanks to this unique interpolation technique that optimises the number of frames

The high-performance 2x zoom lens features a large-diameter, all-glass lens system with 17 elements in 15 groups including an ED (extra low dispersion) lens to guarantee the faithful projection of full HD images. This lens system not only enhances focusing performance but also significantly reduces chromatic aberration and colour bleeding to better project images with ample depth. What’s more, it is also equipped with a 16-step aperture function that enables adjustment of brightness according to user preferences and/or operating environment to realise the deepest black possible.

3D Method

It is now possible to enjoy the excitement of 3D stereoscopic images in the comfort of your living room without using a special screen. The fast response characteristics and picture quality offered by D-ILA technology allow viewers to enjoy vivid and colourful 3D images with far less crosstalk or image ghosting.

*Optional 3D Glasses (PK-AG1) and 3D Synchro Emitter (PK-EM1) are required for viewing images in 3D.Note: Keystone, anamorphic mode and some other functions cannot be used while projecting in 3D mode.

The mechanism behind 3D viewing involves binocular disparity, a unique form of depth perception used by humans that takes two different views and moulds them together into a three-dimensional object. 3D video content is created by using a special camera with two separate lenses that can record images for the left and right eyes sequentially. These recorded images for the left and right eyes are projected separately on the projector and synchronized, which when viewed by 3D glasses that darken sequentially for each eye, create binocular disparity to enable the brain to perceive them as 3D stereoscopic images.
