Yamaha AV Receiver RX-Z7

An awesome demonstration of AV Receiver possibilities, with five HDMI inputs and two outputs, enhanced Adaptive DRC, advanced video processing, multi-zone custom installation facilities and Network Receiver functionality.

Adopting many technologies and design elements from the flagship RX-Z11, the RX-Z7 is for those that simply want the best. Gold-plated terminals and speaker binding posts add to the prestige of this amplifier boasting superior audio performance, extensive network operation including control via Ethernet connection, extensive video adjustment capability and the ability to run audio into four independent zones. The RX-Z7 delivers a superior audio tuning ensuring a movie and music experience for those that simply demand perfection from their system.

Features

7.1 HD Surround Sound

You have heard of 5.1 surround sound; now step up to 7.1. For a more immersive sound stage, 7.1 is the new audio standard for Blu-Ray! With a maximum power out of 185 W per channel, the RX-Z7 is sure to give those speakers a new experience!

Send video to a second monitor

With the RX-Z7 you have the ability to not only have audio sent to four separate areas in your home. But, you can now also send video as well to one other area as well. Perfect for those times when you just want to quickly flick on the TV in the kitchen to get an update or you want to be able to control the TV in your bedroom.

Audio quality just like the movies

Cinemas have always had the best audio quality. But why pay for a ticket, when with DTS-Master audio, you can have the same quality audio reproduced in your home. Have the best 7.1 audio quality available with the RX-Z7.

Control it all from your web browser

Using any computer or handheld device you can quickly and easily adjust volume, turn zones on and off or even change the radio station your listening to outside on your deck. All you need is your device to be connected to your home network and you will have control in the palm of your hands.

Play your music over your network

With the RX-Z7 you don’t have to manage all your music via your iPod (although you still can via the Yamaha YDS-11S iPod dock). Now you can connect your RX-VZ7 to your home network and share your music directly from your computer. Use your Yamaha remote to select and play any of your shared music and automatically see your album art display on your screen.

Even more power to calibrate your system

We have spoken about other Yamaha models that have Yamaha proprietary YPAO room calibration. The RX-Z7 takes it to the next level with an advanced version of this technology. Instead of taking room measurements from one position, the Advanced YPAO runs the setup program three times at different spots around the room to ensure that the audio system is accurately calibrated.

Performance

Dolby Digital soundtracks have provided great sound from DVD’s and TV broadcasts for over a decade, although Dolby Digital is a compressed format. In the age of High Definition BluRay and HDMI, Dolby Laboratories have developed Dolby TrueHD which delivers uncompressed, full-bandwidth digital sound which is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master. The result – a completely immersive and awe-inspiring audio experience.

DTS provides great sound from DVDs, although to save space on disc it is compressed which sacrifices audio quality to some degree. DTS-HD Master Audio takes advantage of the vastly superior storage capability of BluRay disc and is capable of delivering 7.1 channel audio which is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master.

Since the mid 1980’s Yamaha has been the industry’s leader in re-creating the acoustic signatures of famous venues right in your own home. Cinema DSP technology adds a whole new dimension to your music and movie collection, allowing you to enjoy them as if you were right there in a concert hall in Vienna, the Bottom Line or the Roxy Theatre!

MP3 and WMA are examples of compressed audio – where the original digital file has been reduced in size to save on storage space. Compression usually results in diminished sound quality but Yamaha’s Compressed Music Enhancer uses algorithms to replace this lost sonic information in real-time, bringing back the sparkle and groove of the original recording.

Even if you don’t have rear speakers connected you can still enjoy the benefits of multichannel surround sound. Silent Cinema is activated when you plug in your headphones to listen to a multichannel surround signal such as Dolby Digital. Algorithms and phasing techniques are used to give your ears the impression that the rear channels are coming from behind you, using only the left and right earpieces of your headphones. Virtual Cinema DSP works in a similar fashion, except it uses just the front left and right speakers to spread the surround effect much further than your speakers are usually capable of.

Multichannel Home Theatre setups always involve lots of speakers and lots of variables such as room acoustics. Yamaha’s Parametric Acoustic Optimiser (YPAO) takes the guesswork out of getting your speaker setup right by using the included microphone to measure your acoustic environment and making all the internal adjustments to suit – just like a professionally calibrated system.

Yamaha’s SCENE function can switch on your AV Receiver & DVD player, select the input & select the listening mode – all with one single keystroke. Simple! In fact you can setup your four SCENE buttons to activate any input and any listening mode making it useful for anything from AM Radio to 7.1 Channel High Definition Surround.

HDMI combines Audio and Video data into a single cable, which not only simplifies your Home Theatre setup but also lets you take advantage of the stunning quality that High Definition Audio and Video offers.

Multi-zone AV Receivers can deliver separate audio programs to multiple zones at once. For example you can enjoy listening to a CD or iPod while cooking in the kitchen as somebody else enjoys surround sound in the main room - all at the same time.

The Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology (ToP-ART) badge is given to components which conform to stringent levels of high performance and sonic integrity. Specially selected parts are used in the signal path, and each stage is ‘tuned’ to provide a sonically pleasing result.

USB thumb drives are a convenient way of keeping your music mobile, and Yamaha Receivers equipped with a USB slot can access your music files, providing simple plug-n-play convenience.

By plugging your Network Receiver into a regular home network you can access your locally stored music collection as well as thousands of Internet Radio stations from across the globe.

The Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) ensures that all components marked with the DLNA logo comply with their guidelines and recommendations regarding network connectivity. This includes streaming of music from NAS drives and PCs.
